Charles Darwin Funeral Card

This authentic funeral card admits the bearer to the funeral of Charles Darwin at Westminster Abbey on April 26th 1882. It is on card stock, measures 4 13/16" X 3 9/16" and has the black 'mourning border'. It reads: 'FUNERAL OF MR. DARWIN WESTMINSTER ABBEY, Wednesday April 26th 1882 at 12 o'clock PRECISELY Admit the Bearer at Eleven o'clock to the CHOIR (Entrance by West Cloister Door, Dean's Yard). G.G. BRADLEY, D.D. DEAN'. Below a line reads: 'N.B. No person will be admitted except in mourning'. The original black wax seal from Dean Bradley is still affixed at the upper left side of the card.
